Paris Pink October 2021

Paris Pink October marks a month-long Pink Ribbon campaign to support fund-raising and awareness-raising on breast cancer in women and men. This year is the 28 th  anniversary of the Pink Ribbon campaign.   The “Le Cancer du Sein, Parlons-En!” (“Breast Cancer, Let’s Talk About It”) campaign kicked-off with the Eiffel Tower turning pink on 1 October 2021.    For the campaign, the House of Angelina and La Coupole restaurant created and presented an exclusive pastry called “Rosalie” during Pink October. The pastry is a crunchy almond base with a hazelnut biscuit (cookie), crème caramel, and a praline heart.   One euro for each pastry sold goes to the Gustave Roussy Centre for cancer research. One woman in eight is likely to get breast cancer over the course of her life. Over 58,000 new cases are found every year in France in women and men, but they are more fatal for women. With this campaign, the Pink Ribbon Association encourages women to get regularly tes...

MARTINA NICOLLS - NEWS AND UPDATES FOR AUGUST 2020

Hello everyone. August will bring summery days to Paris, where I am currently. Although it is generally a quiet month due the French shuttering their businesses to take their summer holidays, it is likely to be even quieter than usual. Although some tourists and visitors are returning to France in the wake of the Coronavirus pandemic, not everyone can or will travel. Currently, Europeans are beginning to return, while visitors from further locations are yet to return in large numbers. I too will be limiting my travel, and instead of touring France and Europe, I will stay within Paris and enjoy the walks and summer sales. This email includes updates on Paris, my animal website, my aid development work, articles, photography, and general points of interest. My free August 2020 Newsletter on World Humanitarian Day is also available for download. World Humanitarian Day (WHD) is celebrated annually on 19 August. MARTINA NICOLLS - NEWS AND UPDATES FOR JULY 2020

MARTINA NICOLLS - NEWS AND UPDATES FOR JULY 2020 Hello everyone. June 2020 started with the gradual 'deconfinement' in Paris and the opening of restaurants (first for outside dining and from the third week for indoor dining) but with precautions to avoid Covid-19. The Coronavirus pandemic continues to affect the world, and France's situation continues to improve. I had a lovely flashback in June to my roots in Adelaide, South Australia, where I grew up. Thanks to Pam, the SALIFE (South Australian Life) magazine featured me in their expat section, "Expats at home - South Australians chat from overseas."  The giveaway launch of the e-book version of my book Similar but Different in the Animal Kingdom attracted a worldwide response. Thank you to everyone who entered. The three winners are John from America, Sarah from Germany, and Sonia from Trinidad and Tobago. Stay tuned for future giveaways.  I hope July is a special month for everyone. A penumbral full moon lun...
