Fire at the Notre-Dame-des Champs Church in Paris

There was a fire at the Notre-Dame-des Champs Church on the Boulevard du Montparnasse in the 6 th  arrondissement of Paris on 23 July 2025. I saw some smoke rising from the inside of the church – the doors were open and the firefighters brought the blaze under control very quickly.    The mayor of the 6 th  arrondissement, Jean-Pierre Lecoq, praised the efforts of the emergency services for rapidly extinguishing the flames using water hoses and fans to dissipate the smoke. He added that the cause was not yet known and neither was the extent of the damage. There were no casualties.    The Notre-Dame-des Champs Church, a Catholic Church, is an historic building built between 1867 and 1876.

Paris supermarket fire next door

A huge fire broke out this Thursday morning in Paris, around 5:30 am, at the Auchan supermarket, on my street, virtually next door.    Around 100 BSPP (Paris Fire Brigade) firefighters blocked off the streets for around three blocks while they attended to the fire and smoke to the nine-storey building.   Four people were treated for smoke inhalation. The fire was contained quickly with firefighters at the scene for 7-8 hours to clear the area and make it safe for neighbouring buildings and shops.  Source: Emmanuel D MARTINA NICOLLS MartinaNicollsWebsite    I     Rainy Day Healing    I    Martinasblogs    I     Publications     I     Facebook    I    Paris Website    I    Paris blogs    I   Animal Website    I   Flower Website   I   Global Gentlemanliness SUBSCRIBE TO MARTINA NICOLLS FOR NEWS AND UPDATES  ...

Me in COVID-19 Documentary – trailer released

Georgian film director, Beka Mikadze, has released the first short 2-minute trailer on his upcoming COVID-19 Pandemic documentary – Pandemia – to be broadcast in the near future.  I was contacted by the Georgian-Canadian company, the Gantiadi Ethno Cultural Film Association (GECFA) in April 2020 regarding an interview for the COVID-19 documentary.  Its aim is to focus on 25 people from 20 countries and their experiences with their nation’s response to the Coronavirus pandemic – the lockdown, the confinement, the cases, the deaths, and how the interviewees are coping with this strange new world.  The aim is to provide a global insight into the human response to the crisis, to ‘preserve the moment and record genuine emotions of interesting people in 20 different countries,’ Beka said. My interview, in Paris, was on 26 April 2020 with Beka Mikadze and his colleague Fred Sengmueller via Skype.  Link to the YouTube 2-minute trailer:  https:...
