Nepal is a landlocked
country surrounded by China and Tibet to the north and India to the south, east
and west. It has 75 administrative districts.
Dhading District in the
west is one of 75 administrative districts and is situated about five hours
from Kathmandu by road. Dhading has the Ganesh mountain range with peaks over
7,000 metres and the highest peak, Manaslu. The Ganesh range was named after
the Hindu deity in the form of an elephant riding a mouse. Ganesh is the lord
of success and the god of education, knowledge, wisdom, and wealth.
Mining is prominent in
25 districts in Nepal, one of which is Dhading. However, much of Dhading is
farmland set among sub-tropical, temperate, and alpine weather zones with
several rivers. Families grow potatoes and wheat, but also cabbages, beans,
radish, guava, and bananas.
