To the Herbarium



The Herbarium of the Georgian National Museum is the oldest botanical herbarium in the Caucasus region. It was established in 1852. 

Today it contains over 200,000 items, which are also included in the international index of the Herbarium (under the initials TGM).

The Herbarium contains collections from the Caucasus Mountains, Iran, Turkey, Central Asia, Africa, America, and Europe. Many specimens are endemic to the Caucasus region including endangered species.
