Today, 1 June 2020, is the inaugural Australia National Pie Day. Australian Traveller magazine has declared Monday 1 June the inaugural pie day in partnership with the Southern Highlands Pie Time festivities because it is the first day of winter down under.
However, the annual Southern Highlands pie festivities in the state of New South Wales in Australia are in isolation, now Pie-solation, due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
Each year in June, Australia’s home of pies, the Southern Highlands of New South Wales, becomes the Southern Pie-lands, where the region’s pie makers, bakers, restaurants, cafés, and tourist attractions salute the pie with month-long celebrations.
In 2020, the region is slowly coming out of confinement, so it has announced Virtual Pie-solation events for 1-7 June 2020. So, stay at home and enjoy Pie-solation by buying a pie on your next supermarket or bakery visit, baking your own pie at home, ordering a pie at a takeaway service, or sharing images and recipes of your favourite pies online #pietime #piesolation.
