Paris Pink October marks a month-long Pink Ribbon campaign to support fund-raising and awareness-raising on breast cancer in women and men. This year is the 28th anniversary of the Pink Ribbon campaign.
The “Le Cancer du Sein, Parlons-En!” (“Breast Cancer, Let’s Talk About It”) campaign kicked-off with the Eiffel Tower turning pink on 1 October 2021.
For the campaign, the House of Angelina and La Coupole restaurant created and presented an exclusive pastry called “Rosalie” during Pink October. The pastry is a crunchy almond base with a hazelnut biscuit (cookie), crème caramel, and a praline heart.
One euro for each pastry sold goes to the Gustave Roussy Centre for cancer research.
One woman in eight is likely to get breast cancer over the course of her life. Over 58,000 new cases are found every year in France in women and men, but they are more fatal for women. With this campaign, the Pink Ribbon Association encourages women to get regularly tested for breast cancer. Today, if detected early, 9 breast cancers out of 10 can be cured.
