The celebratory street lights have been lit around Tbilisi. Ornamental lights across main streets, lights in trees and bushes, and lights draped around government buildings.
Last month, workers commenced erecting festive lights on the St George column (Liberty or Freedom Monument) in Freedom Square. First the cables were strung, and then electric lights were entwined around them to form the shape of a Christmas tree.
Tonight the lights were turned on. What a difference an evening makes. What looks like spaghetti cabling during the day transforms into an extravagent work of illumination.
