The Paris Garden of Plants and its zoo were illuminated with animal species in this Festival of Lights spectacular. The exhibition started on 16 November 2018 and will finish on 15 January 2019. It runs from 18:00 to 22:45 each night.
Espèces en Voie D’Illumination– Species in the Process of Enlightenment – is the name of this first Festival of Lights at the Jardin des Plantes.
The night-time journey starts underneath an arch of coloured animals (the Dinosaur Bridge) depicting extinct creatures 65 million years ago. Visitors walk through ‘paddocks’ of large illuminated animals, such as white bears, penguins, spiders, butterflies, frogs, and birds, before entering a 30-metre-long white shark. From the shark, visitors walk through the zoo. Along the walk, through the plant garden and the zoo, there are also decorated lanterns and lights.
This is an exhibition that opens people’s eyes to biodiversity in a unique way.
