MARTINA NICOLLS - NEWS AND UPDATES FOR JANUARY 2021
Hello and Happy New Year,
The previous year, 2020, was a year of difficulty for many. I'm so grateful for my family and friends that made last year bearable. We connected more, and that was good. We had to think of new ways to do old things, and return to old ways to do new things. We had to be creative and innovative, and resilient and often resolved to the circumstances, while we waited for them to pass - and they will.
I wish everyone a healthy and happy year ahead with a new start for the future.
Regards, Martina

MY WEBSITE: SIMILAR BUT DIFFERENT IN THE ANIMAL KINGDOM
I'm continuing my animal blog, Similar but Different in the Animal Kingdom, despite not being able to roam as much as I used to, due to COVID-19 pandemic restrictions. And I continue taking photographs - I took the photo of the Nubian Woodpecker (below) in Tsavo National Park, Kenya. Thank you to the many children who tell me how much they are learning, and thanks for sharing your photographs with me. Your parents like the information too! Here are some readers' favourites (and mine). Website: Similar but Different in the Animal Kingdom.

POPULAR BOOK REVIEWS
On my blog site, Feast or Famine, I include book reviews. One of my friends wrote that she is now reading The Overstory by Richard Powers after seeing my review in my November 2020 Broadcast. Good choice Pam. It's a wonderful story about trees. I'm looking back five years to 2015 and the book review with the most views was about Lyn Coffin's new translation of the brilliant Georgian poet Shota Rustaveli's The Knight in the Panther Skin. My favourite book in 2015 was a short story by Napoleon Bonaparte (yes, he was a great writer) called Clisson and Eugenie. Both works of literature - one an epic poem and the other an 18-page novella - are great love stories. Website: Feast or Famine.

On my blog site, Feast or Famine, I write about a range of experiences. One of the most popular posts in 2020 was one that I wrote in October 2019 about the terrific art exhibition by Georgian artist Sophia Cherkezishvili called Being on the Mind of Caucasus Mountains. Website: Feast or Famine.
