MARTINA NICOLLS - NEWS AND UPDATES FOR JUNE 2021
Hello,
The third COVID-19 lockdown in Paris began its deconfinement phase from 19 May. Non-essential businesses, restaurants and cafes (for outside dining), museums, theatres, cinemas, and sport facilities re-opened. The night curfew of 7:00 pm was lifted to 9:00 pm and will be extended to 11:00 pm from 9 June. Restrictions and quarantine for incoming tourists may occur though.
I've been enjoying a return to museums and art galleries, as well as the Zoo and Paris Aquarium, and other events, re-living the Madeline childrens stories as I walk around Paris: "In an old house in Paris that was covered with vines, lived twelve little girls in two straight lines. In two straight lines they broke their bread, and brushed their teeth, and went to bed. They left the house at half past nine, in two straight lines in rain or shine - the smallest one was Madeline."
Regards, Martina

PARIS BLOGS ON MY WEBSITE: THE PARIS RESIDENCES OF JAMES JOYCE
The blogs on my website The Paris Residences of James Joyce are under the category Opal Hush, connecting the past to the present, and discovering people and places in Paris. Opal Hush is mentioned in James Joyce's 1922 novel Ulysses. It's a drink - a quarter of a glass of claret topped with lemonade from a soda siphon. Opals are my favourite gemstone, and hush ... well, it's just a whisper!
