The National Zoo
& Aquarium in Canberra has four African lions (Panthera leo) named Delilah, Millie, Sabi and Marjan.
In addition to
the African lions are six White Lions (Panthera
leo krugeri), naturally found in South Africa. They are not albino lions.
Instead they have blond or fair fur, and are quite rare in the wild because
they are not camouflaged against their habitat. The six white lions include four
males in one enclosure, and a brother and sister in a separate enclosure.
The Jamala
Wildlife Lodge, opened in November 2014 as a luxury hotel experience, is part
of the National Zoo & Aquarium in Canberra. Guests in one of the five
exclusive Jungle Bungelows, built in the lion enclosure, can have a close
encounter with them – and hear them roar at night.
