British poet and playwright, William Shakespeare (1564-1616), will get the
stamp of approval with the release of 10 first class stamps to mark the 400th
anniversary of his death. Britain’s Royal Mail will feature his wise words on
the special Shakespeare stamps.
The quotes are from Shakespeare’s poetry and plays, such as Hamlet,
Macbeth, Romeo and Juliet, Julius Caesar, The Tempest, and Richard II. The
special Shakespeare stamps celebrate the power of language, says the Royal Mail’s
Philip Parker. A special postmark will also appear on letters posted this week
as part of the commemoration.
