The Nairobi
Nationa Museum is holding a temporary exhibition called Sensing Nairobi:
Remains Waste & Metonymy II from 8-30 June 2017.
It is a
group exhibition of artists including Elias Mung’ora, James Muriuki, Meshack
Oiro, Annie Pfingst, Joost Fontein, Kevin Oduor, Neo Musangi, Ralf Graf,
Constance Smith, and Wambui Kamiru Collymore.
The event is a collection of works by
artists, practitioners and critical thinkers who seek to sense and make sense
of Nairobi. They are interested in capturing, reflecting, and contributing to
Nairobi’s multiple sensorial registers - smell, touch, taste, sound, texture,
duration and ephemerality.
MARTINA NICOLLS is an international
aid and development consultant, and the author of:- Similar But Different
in the Animal Kingdom (2017), The Shortness of Life: A Mongolian Lament (2015),
Liberia’s Deadest Ends (2012), Bardot’s Comet (2011), Kashmir on a Knife-Edge
(2010) and The Sudan Curse (2009).
