HEKIMA is an exhibition of culture at
the National Museum of Nairobi in Kenya – the knowlege of Elders – and its
relevance today. The HEKIMA exhibition demonstrates the depth and diversity of
scientific and historical knowledge still held by older generations in Kenya.
The aim of the exhibition is to create
a space where visitors to the museum can see video footage of the Elders of
Kenya. The video highlights ceremonies of plant medicine and healing, music, textiles,
grass mattings and weavings, and the ways the inherited knowledge is relevant
in modern times.
