The Atelier des Lumières gallery in Paris is holding an exhibition called Jimmy Nelson – The Last Sentinels from 16 October to 15 November 2020, during evening hours from 18:30 to 20:15. It is the first immersive exhibition of Jimmy Nelson’s works, created from hundreds of photographs taken during his career. The photographs are digitally re-worked to be displayed on the gallery's walls and floors in sync with music.
It is part of the Good Planet Foundation that focuses on indigenous heritage.
The exhibition displays photographs from around the world, highlighting diversity of people who live in harmony with nature.
British artist Jimmy Nelson (1967-) spent his childhood in Africa, Asia, and South America travelling with his geologist father. At 17, Jimmy Nelson trekked in Tibet, taking a small camera with him. The photographs were published by National Geographic.
His works have faced much controversy and criticism. On this exhibition, Nelson stated that he wanted to celebrate the ‘communities in the world that live in harmony with themselves, their culture, and their natural environment … I think it is time … that this message of protection and respect for the planet and its peoples resounds throughout the world.’
