The rise and fall of the top ten nations of people viewing my personal
blog has largely been influenced by the countries in which I work. Often during
and after I blog about a country, I have a surge of readership from the same
nation. However, I have had countries in which I haven’t worked that have
produced stable readership numbers.
I have been recording audience participation weekly over two years.
Every six months I produced a list of the top ten readership nations.
Two years ago (January 2010) the top ten readers were from the
following countries: (1) USA, (2) Georgia, (3) China, (4) Germany, (5) Canada,
(6) Belgium, (7) Australia, (8) India, (9) Uganda, and (10) Austria. Six months
later, Mongolia entered in ninth place and Lithuania and the United Arab
Emirates tied for tenth place, ousting Uganda, and Austria. This was primary
due to my work in Mongolia and Georgia in 2010.
A year ago (January 2011) the top ten readers were from the following
countries: (1) USA, (2) Georgia, (3) Germany, (4) Russia, (5) United Kingdom,
(6) The Netherlands, (7) Australia, (8) Canada, (9) India, and (10) China. The
United Kingdom readership surged by 545% to enter the top ten list in fifth
place. India increased its readership by 336% and Russia increased by 240%,
ousting the previous new comers: Mongolia, Lithuania and the United Arab
Emirates. Six months later, in July 2011, French readership entered the chart
for the first time, with an increase of 259% placing them in tenth position,
ousting Chinese readership.
After conducting work in Pakistan in the latter part of 2011, their
readership soared by a record 1,016%, changing the dynamics of the top ten.
This year (January 2012) the top ten readers were from the following countries:
(1) USA, (2) Georgia, (3) United Kingdom, (4) India, (5) Australia, (6)
Germany, (7) Russia, (8) Canada, (9) The Netherlands, and (10) Pakistan. India
increased by another 341% to climb from ninth in 2011 to fourth position. UK readership increased by 169% to increase from fifth to third.
America and Georgia, the country, (despite its small population)
continue to increase at an average rate of 150% annually to maintain their
first and second positions.
New comers over the past six months include readers from Morocco,
Lebanon, Panama, Jamaica, Macedonia, Ghana, Guernsey, Gabon, Laos, Slovakia, Palestine,
Cuba, Ethiopia, Aruba, Somalia, and Syria.
The countries that may impact the top ten chart over the next six to
nine months are France, the Philippines, Slovenia, and Poland – although it
could depend on upcoming assignments.
