On the northeastern coast of Sri Lanka is the fishing village of Mullaitivu. The climate is tropical with average temperatures ranging from 28-31C (82-88F). The village receives monsoonal rains and winds from the Indian Ocean and Bay of Bengal. The rainfall is between 1,200-1,900mm (47-75 inches) annually.
At this time of the year, the Mullaitivu Beach market has coconuts, jackfruit, mangoes, pumpkins, beans, and betel leaves.
