Edmond Gabriel Kalandadze (1923-2014) was a Georgian oil painter, graphic artist, and teacher of the arts.
Kalandadze studied at the Oil Painting Department of the Tbilisi Academy of Fine Arts from 1941-1952. He was the laureate of the first world festival of youth and students in Moscow in 1957.
He was a World War II veteran and represented the post-war generation of artists.
His innovative works were punished by the academy but he went on to teach at the Academy of Fine Arts and various creative studios. He was also the Minister of Culture of Georgia in 1991-1992.
Edmond Gabriel Kalandadze won the people’s artist of Georgia award in 1985 and the laureate of Shota Rustaveli award in 1998.
