The Adventures of Kumuka James (2019) is a children’s picture book for 6-8 year olds.
Kumuka James is a Masai, born in the Masai Mara in Kenya, Africa. In his blue vehicle, Victor the Truck, Kumuka takes Sam and Sophie for a tour of his family home before taking them back to their camp site. Along for the ride with them is Moo Moo the Monkey.
I like the bright illustrations of the Kenyan landscape and animals, especially the hippo and flamingoes. However, my favourite illustrations are the night time scenes back at the camping ground. As the sun sets, the glow of the fire and the moon lights their tents, and the stars twinkle – what a wonderful scene!
