The World of Cricket: From the Bradman Museum is a small exhibition of cricket memorabilia held at the Canberra Museum and Gallery from 6 December 2014 to 15 March 2015.
Sir Donald
Bradman (1908-2001) was one of Australia’s most famed cricketers of all time, known
for his batting. The Bradman Museum is partnering with the Canberra Museum and
Gallery to exhibit items from the local Canberra region as well as
international cricket. It will commemorate the 2015 eleventh International
Cricket Council (ICC) World Cup to be held in Australia and New Zealand.
Cricket games will be held in 14 cities, including Canberra.
Cricket was first
played in Canberra, Australia’s capital, in 1850. The exhibition has a 1930
photograph of Sir Donald Bradman, a cricket ball used in 1856, signature bats,
a video, cricket clothes, photographs and posters, and an iconic 1990
Australian cricket blazer in green and yellow stripes (which was made to
replicate vintage blazers).
