International Dog Day is celebrated annually on 26 August. It started in America with National Dog Day in 2004, and has expanded to include countries around the world.
International Dog Day celebrates the importance of dogs, draws attention to dog shelters and homeless dogs, as well as rescue and rescued dogs, and highlights dog issues, such as breeding and care. It also helps to highlight the increase in illegal activities such as dog kidnapping and irresponsible breeding.
