In the seaside tourist city of Deauville on the Normandy coast in northwest France is a Jules Verne carousel in front of the Place du Casino. French author Jules Verne (1828-1905) is best known for novels such as Journey to the Center of the Earth (1864), Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Seas (1970), and Around the World in Eighty Days (1872).
The carousel was installed in front of the Barrière establishment on 20 June 2020. It was expected to be in the location temporarily to 15 September 2020, but it’s still there this February 2023. Riders can take a flight on a hot air balloon, ride one of the small horses, or pilot the steam car on this historical period merry-go-round.
