National Cat Day in the United States
is celebrated annually on 29 October.
National Cat Day was established in 2005 to bring awareness to
the number of homeless cats "to help galvanize the public to recognize the
number of cats that need to be
rescued each year’’ and also to encourage cat lovers to celebrate the cats in
their life.
There is also an International Cat Day celebrated annually on 8
August, which was established in 2002 by the International Fund for Animal
Welfare. World Cat Day is celebrated on 17 February each year in Europe and on
1 March in Russia.
This year I am focusing on the cats of Kenya - the Masai lion.
