The Museum of Natural History in Paris is holding an exhibition called Ocean: Une Plongee Insolite (Ocean: An Unparalleled Dive) from 3 April 2019 to 5 January 2020.
The exhibition focuses primarily on several explorations of the Southern Ocean and the photographs and films taken by the diving team of scientists. It shows the biodiversity from microscopic organisms to giant aquatic animals, as well as myths and legends, their contributions to medicine and their influences on architecture.
The ocean covers 71% of the surface of our planet, yet it remains largely unexplored. From a depth of 200 metres, it is almost totally dark, and the pressure of the sea water is 800 times denser than air.
