UNESCO Paris is exhibiting benches in the shape of books – or books in the shape of benches – at their headquarters.
The exhibition is an Inedit Concept in France, under the heading ‘An Author. An Artist. A Bench.’
Les Livres a deux Places (Books have two places) are open-book sculptures of benches painted by artists on the theme of books by famous authors. These original benches are intended to give people a second look at a book title. The benches are varnished and glossy (varnished by l’Atelier Remi-Cuvilliez).

Sacha Guitry’s ‘Si Versailles m’était conte’ (If Versailles was a Tale of Me) by artist Tristam.
Antonine de Saint-Exupery’s ‘Le Petit Prince’ (The Little Prince) by artist Djalouz.
Arthur Rimbauld’s ‘Le Bateau ivre’ (The Drunken Boat) by artist Romain Quemener.
Didier Van Cauwelaert’s ‘La maison des lumieres’ (The House of Lights) by artist Akmen.
Bernard Werber’s ‘Les Thanatonautes’ by artist Alan Cariddi.
