Tiflis Brunch at Freedom Square in Tblisi, a brunch
café serving light meals and beverages, including a selection of Georgian
wines, regularly displays Georgian art. The local artists currently on display
are Marina Nairashvili and Arsen Gomareli.
Marina Nairashvili (1966-) focuses on landscapes,
portraits, and animals, with strikingly rich colours.
Nairashvili’s “There .. Release me, Lilith” (2013) is
100cm x 84cm oil on canvas, of a woman looking out of a window while a cat looks
toward the viewer.
“My sweet Mr.” (2015) is a young girl with her head
resting on a table (oil on canvas, 70cm x 50cm).
Nairashvili’s “Once” (2014) is a young woman with
goldfish (oil on canvas, 60cm x 60 cm).
“Tired Hunter” (undated) is an eagle against a green
background (oil on canvas, 100cm x 80cm), and “Amaryllis Belladonna” (2014) is
of the exotic flower (60cm x 60 cm).
Arsen Gomareli focuses on the psychological nature of
humankind, particularly emotional depictions of people in society. His
brushstrokes are generally thick and vivid, working with oil on canvas.
Gomareli’s “A man who tries to color a grey life”
(undated) is oil on canvas (80cm x 60 cm).
Gomareli’s “Return to Initial” (2014) has strips of
sheet music in the background and is oil on canvas (100cm x 80cm).
His “Almost Insane" (undated) is a portrait of a
blue-eyed man (60cm x 50cm).
