The Georgian National Museum in Tbilisi is holding an
exhibition called Synthetical Art – Artist’s Book “Vepkhistqaosani” from
January 26 to May 1, 2015. The exhibition showcases more than 200 pieces of
art.
The artwork includes acrylic, oil on rice paper, and
etchings, paint, or mixed media on mirrors.
It is a collection from various Georgian artists,
including Gogi Alexi-Meskhishvili, Misha Gogrichiani, Tamaz Varvaridze, Tamar
Kvesitadze, Tamuna Melikishvili, Otar Mucharashvili, Oleg Timchenko, Mamuka
Tsetskhladze, Rusudan Khizanishvili, Ushangi Khumarashili, Mamuka Japaridze,
and Temur Javakhishvili.
Examples include Temur Javakhishvili’s mixed
techniqes on mirror, called Avtandil Sets Forth in Quest of the Stranger
Knight.
Tamaz Varvaridze’s mixed technique of doves is called
I Saw the Maiden; a Lance Pierced My Mind and Heart.
Mamuka Tsetskhladze’s acrylic work is called Tariel
Keeps a Panther’s Skin as a Symbol of Nestan. His vivid acrylic portrait is
called Tinatin Approves Avtandil’s Decision to go to Tariel for the Second
Time. His third acrylic piece, with the pen in hand, is called Avtandil Sat
Down to Write the Testament.
Tamuna Melikishvili’s oil on rice paper is called
Patman Watches from the Tower Nestan in a Boat. The painting with the famingos
is Patman’s Husband Tells the King of the Seas about Nestan, and her third
piece is Tariel Gives the Land and the Wealth of the Kajis to the King of the
Seas.
