From 3-27 February, 2016, Mariam Zaldastanishvili
will hold a solo exhibition of her works at Europe House in Tbilisi, Georgia.
Georgian artist, Mariam Zaldastanishvili (1982-),
has 32 of her drawings and illustrations on display. In her drawings created
for various publications she interprets simple everyday objects and forms and
gives them various interpretations. Her works include the floor plan of the
exhibition hall where her first solo exhibition too place 11 years ago, which
now resembles a suitcase (pictured below).
One of my favourites is Yellow Apples (2003), a
lithography, which has been simplified into a multi-figure composition.
Her work, Woody Allen (2009), is mixed techniques
showing the film producer’s distinctive glasses (shown below).
Alphabet (2010) is also mixed techniques (below).
MARTINA NICOLLS is the author of:- The
Shortness of Life: A Mongolian Lament (2015), Liberia’s Deadest Ends (2012),
Bardot’s Comet (2011), Kashmir on a Knife-Edge (2010) and The Sudan Curse
(2009).
