Zygi is a
small coastal port town in Cyprus, between Limassol and Larnaca. It was once
famous for shipping carob pods from Cyprus to the world. Carob is a tropical
pod that contains a sweet, edible pulp and inedible seeds. After drying, the
pulp is roasted and ground into a powder that resembles cocoa powder, similar
to chocolate.
Now Zygi is
a touristy seaside resort with fish tavernas and restaurants.
