The Drill Hall Gallery at the Australian
National University (ANU) in Canberra is holding an exhibition of Jacqueline
Bradley’s works, from 23 February to 8 April 2018, called Figure in the Landscape.
Jacqueline Bradley is a PhD candidate and
lecturer in the Sculpture Workshop at the ANU School of Art and Design.
Jacqueline Bradley’s works combine natural
materials – rocks, fencing wire, and dirt – with intimate bodily objects – combs,
thimbles and scarves. These small sculptures ‘reflect the artist’s interaction
with the landscape and articulate some of the complexities encountered when
negotiating our presence in the Australian environment.’
MARTINA NICOLLS is an international aid and development consultant, and the author of:- Similar But Different in the Animal Kingdom
(2017), The Shortness of Life: A Mongolian Lament (2015), Liberia’s Deadest
Ends (2012), Bardot’s Comet (2011), Kashmir on a Knife-Edge (2010) and The
Sudan Curse (2009).
