Natalia Palavandishvili was a Georgian oil painter, graphic artist, and book illustrator. She won the meritorious artist of Georgia award in 1965 and the people’s artist of Georgia award in 1984.
Natalia Palavandishvili (1921-2006) studied at the Tbilisi Academy of Fine Arts, working on artistic designs for books and children’s magazines, as well as landscapes.
She was one of a group of female artists, led by Elene Akhvlediani, who travelled throughout Georgia. She used bright colours and lyricism themes characteristic of the different regions of Georgia. She specialized in water colours and gouache works. From the 1960s, she worked in the genre of portraits.
