Le Select Restaurant in Montparnasse, Paris, is exhibiting a solo collection of Michel Temim’s artworks in its gallery-restaurant from 6 February to 5 March 2022.
Paris-born Michel Temim migrated to Canada after his studies in life drawing. He returned to Paris in 2000 to pursue his pictorial research.
He explains that his figurative painting represents a certain social reality, inspired by creating short stories through art. He likes to use bright colours with oil and acrylic paints on canvas to re-transcribe the ordinary with indulgently painted characters. His characters are anonymous people, whom everyone can identity with.
Michel Temim’s aim is to ‘research the unusual side of a common urban situation, to put it on canvas, and to give it all its narrative force by using the most traditional drawing and painting techniques.’
