Most popular Google searches in Georgia

What do Georgians Google search most frequently? The AdvertWise study looked at over six million words searched in one year from July 2015 to June 2016. The data was calculated based on Google keyword planner, which allowed the researchers to see the statistics of each word, said AdvertWise Chief Digital Officer, Merab Gotsiridze.

The results showed that weather was the most frequent search item. This was followed by movies, parimutuel betting, the World Cup, and pornography-related key words. In summary, weather, movies, gambling, football, and sex.

However, the search words depend on the season. Weather was the most popular search word during summer months and the winter months, averaging 110,000 searches in June. The upsurge in the search for parimutual betting was due to an advertising campaign – it also trended during the World Cup.

The sixth most frequent searches were related to financial products and information about loans. Seventh was local tourist locations around the country of Georgia (especially Batumi), with foreign location searches in 8th place. The 9th most frequent word searched was video, especially Georgian video sites. The 10th most frequent word was games.

Therefore the top 5 placed searches were weather, movies, gambling, football, and sex. The bottom 5 placed searches were money, local holidays, foreign holidays, videos, and games.
