The
Zurab Tsereteli Museum of Modern Art (MOMA) is holding an exhibition of the
works of Maya Jimsheleishvili to 22 March 2018.
Maya
Jimsheleishvili (1979-) was born in Tbilisi, Georgia. She
has two passions: music and art. She went to a musical gymnasium for 11 years,
and performed at several concerts with a symphonic orchestra. As an artist, she
had her first painting exhibition when she was in kindergarten. After
graduating from the musical gymnasium she realized that her true vocation was
painting and entered the Tbilisi State Academy of Arts, graduating in 2003.
She also has her own
interior design studio, and decorated the Buddha-Bar in Tbilisi, including
installing the wall sconces, locating chandeliers and painting dragons on
canvas, which represent the signature of the brand.
In this exhibition, called
Voyage, Maya Jimsheleishvili displays
about 60 paintings that illustrate the dynamic process of her inner voyage by
depicting her inner portrait and emotional states.
