​ JAMES JOYCE'S 1922 NOVEL ULYSSES The feature this month is the centenary - 100 years - of the James Joyce novel 'Ulysses' which Sylvia Beach published in Paris in 1922. The novel is a day in the life of characters Leopold and Molly Bloom - 16 June 1904. This date is actually James Joyce's first date with Nora Barnacle in Dublin - and they eventually married and had two children - Giorgio (1905-1976) and Lucia (1907-1982). Giorgio had a son Stephen James who lived in Paris - he was born in 1932, and died on 23 January 2020. He had no children. ULYSSES 100 CONFERENCE IN TBILISI, GEORGIA The Georgian American University hosted the 'Ulysses 100' international conference. Opal Hush is mentioned in James Joyce's 1922 novel Ulysses. It's a drink - a quarter of a glass of claret with lemonade from a soda siphon.
