A chain mail shirt is
on display at the Georgian National Museum – once owned by King Aleksandre III
of Imeriti. King Aleksandre III lived in Georgia from 1639 to 1660, dying at
the young age of 21.
The 17th
century Georgian chain mail shirt is made of riveted steel rings, yellow metal,
coloured gemstones, and golden moon and sun symbols.
The Museum of Georgia
is holding the exhibition "Georgian Costume and Weaponry of 18-20th
Centuries" from 18 May to 18 November 2017. It commenced on 18 May to mark
Museum Week dedicated to the International Museum Day.
