The Dimitri
Shevardnadze National Gallery in Tbilisi, Georgia, is holding an exhibition
called "Bach Exercises" by Levan Lagidze from 5 May to 6 June 2017.
The exhibition
showcases recent artworks by Levan Lagidze (1958-) created in 2016-2017.
Lagidze describes the exhibition as follows: "On the crossroad of
different epochs, the necessity of verifying the universal measurement and
intercultural vision of art has become evident. I think that the modern
human is standing on the crossroad and so is the painting. The great ancestors
help us to find the exact boundaries and we have the possibility to take
lessons from them."
Lagidze’s early works
were narrative paintings, but over the years he has moved towards abstract
works, mainly nature and landscapes, with works such as ‘Autumn Meadows’ and
‘The Plow.’
