The National Zoo and
Aquarium in Canberra, Australia, has four cheetahs (Acinonyx jubatus). The two females are called Zingala and Ailsa.
The two young males are called Jura and Innis.
The cheetah is
the fastest land animal in the world, reaching speeds up to 150 kilometres per
hour for short periods of time over 450-500 meters. They can also accelerate
very quickly.
The Jamala
Wildlife Lodge, opened in November 2014 as a luxury hotel experience, is part
of the National Zoo & Aquarium in Canberra. Guests in one of the five
exclusive Jungle Bungelows, built around the cheetah enclosure, can have a
close encounter with them.
