The National Zoo and Aquarium in Canberra, Australia,
has one cougar (Puma concolor) called
Cree. She is now quite old and has retired from viewing, in a large enclosure.
She is the largest of the “small cats.” There are estimated to be approximately
30,000-50,000 cougars in the world.
The cougar is also known as the mountain lion, puma,
or catamount and is found naturally in America (along the eastern coast),
Central America, and South America.
