Tiflis Brunch at
Freedom Square in Tblisi, a brunch café serving light meals and beverages,
including a selection of Georgian wines, regularly displays Georgian art. The
local artists currently on display have a common theme: felt (typically pressed
wool). Ana Lagidze uses felt almost exclusively, whereas Gvantsa Seturidze uses
felt and textile in her pieces, which are framed in glass.
Ana Lagidze is an
independent artist-designer. The following pieces are entitled Copy/Paste –
with one in colour and the other in black and white felt.
Her Happiness feltwork (my favourite in this collection) is in vibrant red, black, grey, and white, while her piece, Time, is a
consolidation of various patchworked colours.
Gvantsa Seturidze felt
and textiles artwork below is vivid red, while the other pieces are more
subdued in grey, beige, and pastel pink.
